The Wild Pollinator Chill Dome is a safe space to chill and relax during a busy day. Slow down and appreciate some of the tiniest and most important creatures on our planet. We forget to look closely sometimes. Incredible beauty is right there, on the road side, in our cities, and deep in the forest, life is always humming and buzzing, seeding new life by way of beauty.
I photograph our tiny pollinator friends and wildflowers almost every day. Some pollinators are beautiful, some are dangerous looking. But they are responsible for 90% of wild flowering plant reproduction and 75% of food plant reproduction. Our planet doesn’t live without them.
This project will combine up close observation and appreciation of these tiny creatures, as well as an experience to calm the nervous system and counter the stresses of everyday life (even when you are having fun at a big conference!)
My intention is that guests will leave refreshed and with a deeper appreciation for the systems of life that happen around us every day.

After a busy morning at the VERGE conference, and a vegan lunch, you look for a place to rest for a while before engaging with all the excitement again. But, the hard benches on the edges of the conference showroom are not appealing. You notice a large hot pink dome that looks like a giant flower covered with butterflies and move towards it.
As you approach, scent of real lavender and other calming herbs tickle your nose, and the sound of blissful ambient guitar gently calls you towards the opening in the darkened tent.
Ducking inside, air mattresses and pillows shaped like giant leaves and flowers are scattered around, while other conference participants chill and have quiet conversations on the cushions. They are gazing at the dome ceiling and as you make yourself comfortable you realize there is a projection of a myriad of pollinators and close up colorful flowers slowly morphing into the next image or video as dreamy ambient music flows around you.
Engulfed in the beauty of tiny flowers you relax and enjoy the respite from your busy day for a few moments, leaving you refreshed and with a new appreciation for some of Earth’s most important creatures.
